About the event

Intentional & Creative Sequencing:

Creating an Inspired Practice

with Daphne Larkin

November 10 - 12, 2023

Welcome to the playground of your practice. Join Daphne Larkin for a  weekend of inspiration and creativity. You might be surprised to learn  that what you’re seeking for new class ideas is found on your mat - in  your own practice. All you need is some structure and a new perspective.  The possibilities are endless. Surround yourself with experienced  teachers and plenty of space to explore. Learn to see the poses with fresh eyes and get excited about returning to your mat. Your discoveries will fuel your teaching and will bring new life to your classes.

This training is a Core Module in Sanctuary’s 300hr Teacher Training, but is open to all teachers and experienced students who are interested in learning to structure a home practice. We will look at a well-aligned practice - from the inside out and learn how to create  classes that are intentionally sequenced to enhance the energetic  alignment of the poses and evoke the subtle aspects of an experienced practice. What begins as a core sequence flows into a full class  exploration and continues into a series of class options that are  informed and spark curiosity.

During our interactive weekend, we will practice together, get  curious and have fun with poses, shapes, transitions and themes. Using  our practice as the playground, we’ll explore:

  • Krama as a way of seeing and moving through the practice
  • Techniques for guiding students through complex sequences
  • Peak poses - understanding their purpose/function/path to the peak
  • Development of sequences during the module; expanding sequences in a  variety of directions for different peaks within the same family
  • Sequences for mixed level classes
  • Tools for understanding and teaching transitions
  • Wake up your own curiosity - Learn to see poses in a new perspective
