Lynette Dufton

A doctoral student in clinical psychology, Lynette’s interests in stress and coping and the effects of stress on illness are influenced by her experience in the yoga studio. The deep breathing, mindfulness, and movement that are the focus of Vinyasa-style yoga helped her understand a view of health that integrates body, mind, and community into a healthier whole. Whole-person wellness attracts Lynette to both yoga and psychology, and she works towards integrating mind, body, and spirit in each of her classes.

Lynette’s background in Ashtanga, Power Yoga, and Vinyasa helps to direct the invigorating yoga sequences in her class, encouraging self-awareness and self-acceptance.  She urges students to use mindfulness of breath, their inner and outer strength, and compassion towards their body and mind so they may receive the full benefits of yoga.

Lynette is thankful for the guidance and encouragement she receives from teachers Tom and Daphne Larkin, Liz Stewart, and Jessalynn Riggs, and feels blessed by the many opportunities she is given to give back to the yoga community.
