Raquel Bueno Miles, RYT
“Our true purpose manifests when we see ourselves as god; no separation. We should all BE in love.”
Her journey began thirteen years ago, when Raquel Bueno Miles signed up for an Iyengar yoga class with her first teacher, Jan Campbell in Nashville, TN. The precision of the physical practice along with the challenge to go deeper spiritually, resonated profoundly within her. After moving back to her hometown of Los Angeles, Raquel was fortunate enough to study with highly acclaimed and inspirational teachers; Saul David Raye, Rodney Yee, Natasha Rizoupalos, and Ally Hamilton. Along side her passion for yoga, she also took up the practice of Zen Buddhism; taking her buddhist precepts (Jukai) in 2002. Inspired by the empowering and transformational approach of her teacher, Saul David Raye, Raquel creates a practice that brings to life the holistic and healing nature of yoga, allowing people to simply access and connect more deeply with their own authentic power and spirit. This approach, coupled with her background in Zen Buddhism has allowed her to find a natural synergy between yoga and meditation. Her teaching style integrates the benefits of Zazen with the gentle philosophy of Vinyasa yoga, enhancing mental, physical and spiritual context for your body and mind in the world. And recently, in the summer of 2009 Raquel launched Yoga Gives. A yoga class that meets weekly at Sanctuary Yoga to benefit victims of sexual assault by raising donations to support the programs of the Sexual Assault Center (SAC) here in Nashville. “Give love and the world benefits.” Each day Raquel simply begins with the practice of yoga.
